Cal Chinen has served as the Senior Pastor of Moanalua Gardens Missionary Church (MGMC) since 1986, is one of the founding members and current Chairman of the Board for Transformation Hawai’i, and is known and respected by his fellow colleagues as one of the most trusted father figures for transformation in the Hawaiian Islands. He is a graduate of Wheaten College and West Coast Conservative Baptist Seminary. He has been the leader in mobilizing prayer for transformation in Hawai’i, including the United in Prayer (UIP) movement which established student- and parent-led prayer groups in the majority of the local high schools in Hawai’i. As a result of UIP, the spiritual climate on campuses and in cities has changed across the state. Pastor Cal’s wife of 31 years, Joy, serves alongside him in the ministry and together they have 3 grown children who are actively serving the Lord.
